We understand that there is a lot of worry regarding the Coronavirus. Many parents have approached us questioning whether or not we plan to close our doors for a period of time; just as many parts of Washoe County have. We would like to assure you that your child’s health and well-being is our daily concern and we will continue to watch our environment very closely. Our goal as always, is to stay open for all of our families that need our services daily. With our best efforts, we will continue to take all appropriate steps of prevention: Washing and sanitizing our environment and touch points, keeping your child’s hands and face washed throughout the day, excluding children that show signs of any illness, and trying our absolute best to keep their hands out of their mouth; although some age groups are easier than others to control regarding this.

Please remember that the spread of illness is a team effort therefore, we ask that if any of your children have shown signs of a fever, respiratory cough or shortness of breath; do not bring them to school until properly checked out by their Pediatrician. Children with any possible signs must be released by a doctor before returning to school. Please understand that if you yourself is experiencing possible symptoms it is important that you and your family not expose our environment. Please understand that if our school is exposed to a case than we will cooperate with the Washoe County Health Department regarding steps that they require us to take. At that point, all families will be notified regarding the plan of action.

Regarding Spring Break: For our families that are signed-up in our Youth Program. To prevent unnecessary exposure to illnesses in the public; we feel that it is important to adjust our daily activities to being 100% onsite at Milestones. We are currently working with Ms. Sydney regarding Plan B of fun-filled activities and surprises for the children while participating in our program. Please be assured that the price of the program will be adjusted to reflect the absence of field trips. Please feel free to see us if you have any questions or feel the need to make a change to the days in which you signed-up.

Please note that there is a diminished supply of hand sanitizer available in the public; along with the ingredients needed to make our own. Therefore, please feel free to use any of our hand soap available at all hand washing sinks located in the bathrooms and inside the classrooms. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding during this time. Preventative steps is the best that all of us can do together.

Our new school will offer a learning environment for children six weeks to Pre-Kindergarten age.  New programs offered will be a private kindergarten and a before & after school program for six to twelve year olds. When your school age child is out of school for winter break, spring break or summer…..we will have a youth program for you!

We are very excited about spending an evening with our Milestones families!  On Thursday, October 30th we will be hosting our 2nd annual Trunk-or-Treat event from 6:15pm to 7:30pm.  Our families will enjoy the Halloween spirit of trunk-or-treating, sensory play, music and munchies.  Milestones parents….Don’t forget that siblings are welcome.  Please RSVP by Wednesday, October 29th at the front desk.

We are excited to announce that Milestones has officially teamed up with the American Heart Association to help fight and prevent childhood obesity.  We have committed to improving any policies and practices necessary within our center so that we can achieve best practice guidelines in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, and infant feeding.  We will be working one-on-one with an American Heart Association consultant for the next year so that we can continue to grow in a healthy direction for the children within our school.

Have you heard?  We are having a fundraiser to raise money for the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.  Our fundraiser will continue to run until Friday, November 7th.

We have been selling “ZBest” coupon books.  Each book is on sale for $20.00, allowing an $8.00 profit per book.  All profits will go to the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.  The books can be directly purchased at our front desk for immediate use.  We also have order forms for anyone that would like to take orders from friends and family members.  All orders will be filled by us at the front desk.

Each book can be used from TODAY until December of 2014!

Payments can be accepted as either cash or check – Please have all checks written to Milestones. We will post the final donation amount on Monday, November 10^th!

We have had a very exciting and meaningful first year open!  We would like to thank all of our amazing families and teachers for believing in us and our school.  We had a vision that Milestones would be a learning environment and experience for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age.  Along with that we also wanted to be a “Home away from home” for the children at our school.  We are so fortunate everyday to spend our days with the precious children at Milestones.  Thank you to all of the parents who have trusted us with their little souls.  Happy 1st Birthday Milestones……We look forward to a wonderful 2nd year!
